About
DAVID ERIC HANSEN

David grew up in Michigan skiing and playing the violin, and discovered the world through books. He studied biopsychology in college with a focus on learning and memory. David’s first job was teaching math and science at an international high school in Switzerland where he discovered many of the things that affect students’ learning and success in school. Later, after tasting life as a product line manager in Silicon Valley, he got his PhD and returned to the classroom to teach marketing and statistics. He has received teaching awards (e.g., Top Teacher at Ohio U.; Graduate Teacher of the Year at Auckland U.; Outstanding Marketing Professor at Texas Southern U.), research grants (e.g., NASA academic liaison grant; New Zealand federal academic grant), business competition awards (e.g., Mootcorp 2001), and published articles in premier academic journals (e.g., OBHDP, Journal of Service Research, Journal of Consumer Psychology).
David combined motivational and cognitive science to help students find themselves and create an independent and self-directed study method that they could use to manage their transition from high school to college. He published the results of a grant-funded longitudinal study demonstrating the superiority of his study method in the Journal of Marketing Education (#2 out of 322 American business education journals). As the need to be prepared for a fast changing world has increased, he has put his method into book form for the benefit of all students, including those unsure about college.
